American Politics
In our polarized nation that produces gridlock, uncivil discourse, and declining trust in institutions and each other, we need citizens and leaders who "understand the times and know what to do" (I Chronicles 12: 32). Studying American politics will prepare students to understand the philosophical and social foundations of our nation, politics, and Constitution so they can be effective leaders who bring people together to advance the common good.
Our classes lay the intellectual foundation of our system of government and analyzes the behavior of various political actors while helping students learn to distinguish between good and bad information and communicate effectively. Students can learn leadership skills through simulations that require students to run campaigns, advise the president, respond to crises, pass legislation, and more. Students also can learn more about politics by interning in Congress, the White House, state legislatures, and federal and state agencies. Finally, our students learn the importance of character, how faith should motivate political views, and how to be a virtuous leader and citizen.
This combination of intellectual and character development contributes to our students 100% acceptance rate into law school and many other exciting careers in government, business, non-profit management, political advocacy, and more.
