Biography
Dr. Valerie Townsend graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. She has over 20 years' experience as a bank manager where she has had numerous opportunities to apply her knowledge of accounting principles. Dr. Townsend also received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee, as well as a Master's in Business Administration from Tennessee State University and her Master of Accountancy from Union University. After serving as an adjunct professor, Dr. Townsend realized how much she enjoyed teaching and connecting with students. She believes that it is important to give back by sharing her experiences in the business world with her students. Principles of Accounting is her favorite course to teach because she gets to connect with all the business students and introduce them to the “language of business.” In her free time, Dr. Townsend enjoys spending time with her family, church, and travelling.
