2024 Hub City Innovation Cup

Registration was open to all Union University, Freed-Hardeman University, Lane College, UofM Lambuth, and TCAT students. Sponsored by Union University McAfee School of Business, Lane College, UofM Lambuth, The Jackson Chamber, theCO, and JEA. Prizes totaling $5,000.

Competition Results

The pitch competition challenged students to "utilize technology to improve the quality of life for those with disabilities in Jackson, Tennessee." We appreciate the community experts who joined us and the talented panel of judges which included Scott Heit, Jennifer Graves, Jill Taylor, Suzanne Gillis, Jimmy Powell, and Chris Kelly. A $1000 donation was made to the STAR Center and accepted by President Jennifer Graves on behalf of the People's Choice Winners. JEA contributed this donation. The winning team developed an emergency warning app and device to assist those with disabilities.

The winning teams were:

  • First place ($3000 prize): Eli Patton, Madison Griffin, Michael Garber, Tim Boccarossa, and Faith Orr (Union University)
  • Second place ($1500 prize): Ryan Wagy, Grace Sarver, Hettie Peek, Zoe Leatherwood, Sam Stevens (Union University)
  • Third place ($500 prize): Jadyn Hope, Sarah Carmack, Addison Adcock, Zena Doris (Freed-Hardeman University)

The People's Choice Winners were a team comprised of:

Micah Diaz, Cameron Champine, and Jonathan Zilkie and a team comprised of Eli Patton, Madison Griffin, Michael Garber, Tim Boccarossa, and Faith Orr from Union University.

The remaining three teams in the Top 6 Teams were:

Preston Nabors, Shane Felis, and Sun Kit Tsui (Union University); Micah Diaz, Cameron Champine, and Jonathan Zilkie (Union University); and Lou Joseph, Griffin Webster, and Daniel Trimm (Freed-Hardeman).

Hub City Innovation Cup Winners
