Hiring Process
Each campus office/department will have different timelines for making hiring decisions. Some supervisors will conduct very formal interviews, while others may opt for more informal conversations. Regardless, always treat any interaction with a potential employer as an interview. The office/department will notify you if you've been selected for hire.
Timecards and Pay Periods
Students record their work hours on selfservice.uu.edu and are paid on a biweekly basis via Direct Deposit.

Employment Onboarding
If you've been selected for hire, you'll receive an email from the Vocatio Center with instructions to complete some employment forms online as well as I-9 verification. I-9 verification is a short, in-person meeting where you are required to provide authentic document(s) for employment verification.

For international students with an F-1 visa, once you have been offered a job, your next step is to obtain a Social Security Number, and this must be done prior to starting work. Check out the International Student Checklist, and contact Pam Whitnell, the International Student Officer, for more details.
Once you have completed all of the on-boarding steps, you will receive an email confirmation clearing you to begin work.

The lab assistant may assist the professors in the department by performing such tasks as:1. Preparing lab stations for all general biology labs as well as other labs as needed, including microbiology, cell/molecular, and anatomy and physiology labs.2. Job SummaryThe Student Photographer for the Vocatio Center will provide photography support for special events as needed. This position will primarily take headshots at the annual spring Bulldog Career Fair. This position lies within the Study Abroad program and the Department pf LLW. Some of the daily responsibilities will be to assist students with initial Study Abroad questions and to communicate effectively with all visitors. Also, answering phone calls and taking messages.
