Hoskins to give annual Powell Missions Lecture Jan. 30

JACKSON, Tenn.Jan. 20, 2026 — Ben Hoskins of the International Mission Board will deliver the W.D. Powell Missions Lecture, entitled “From Everywhere to Everyone: How the Global Church Is Taking the Gospel to the Nations,” at Union University Jan. 30.

Hoskins, a 2002 and 2007 graduate of Union, serves as the IMB’s cluster leader for global Chinese ministry. He graduated from Gateway Baptist Theological Seminary in 2022 with a Doctor of Ministry degree.

Appointed by the IMB in 2008, Hoskins has served in East Asia planting churches, leading teams and training gospel workers. He was a founding member of HIM, an Asian Baptist mission agency

He and his wife Tabitha live in Taiwan with their four children.

Named after a Union alumnus and a pioneer Southern Baptist missionary to Mexico in the late 1800s, the W.D. Powell Missions Lecture Series is co-sponsored by Union’s School of Theology and Missions and the IMB to honor Union alumni who have served in international missions.

Hoskins will deliver his lecture at 4 p.m. in the Carl Grant Events Center. He will also speak in chapel at 10 a.m. Jan. 28 in G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. Both events are free and open to the public.
