Accelerated BSN

You've dreamed of changing your career to the nursing profession, and we can help you make that a reality through the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSNA) program. Our 15-month, full-time program features extensive clinical rotations that will give you the experience and skills to provide safe, effective patient care. If you want to enter the work force as a nurse in the shortest time possible, the program's intensive pace is for you.

This degree track is for non-nurses who have a bachelor's degree in another field, or non-nurses who are at least 24 years old and have completed general education requirements (but did not previously complete a bachelor's degree). The BSNA is a cohort-based program designed to prepare nurses for excellence in practice and provide a solid foundation for graduate school.

Admissions

Admission Criteria

ALL applicants:

  • GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 hours of coursework. Calculation of GPA for the last 60 hours will occur as follows:
    • The grades used to calculate the 60 hours GPA will be the most recent, and exactly 60 hours will be included in the calculation. If a partial semester must be utilized, the course with the highest grade will be chosen, and the number of hours needed will be multiplied by the grade. For example, if 2 hours are needed to complete the 60, and the applicant has a 3 hour course in which they earned an A, 8 points will be added (2 x 4 = 8).
    • If an applicant re-took a course, the higher grade will be used in the calculation; the lower grade will not count in the calculation at all.
    • Plus and minus grades will be considered as standard A, B, C, etc. For example, an A+ and an A- will both be assigned 4 quality points per credit hour.
  • Grades of C or higher are required in all prerequisite courses
  • If you are not a U.S. citizen, an international application must be completed and submitted with the BSN application.
    • All international transcripts must be evaluated by an accredited evaluating agency found at the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services' website: naces.org
    • Applicants from a country where the native language is not English must show proof of English proficiency with scores from TOEFL, IELTS, or iTEP courses. Minimum scores are TOEFL 560 (Internet-based 80), IELTS 6.5, or iTEP 4.4. In addition, students must provide WES evaluations of transcripts.
  • Students with 2 or more Ds or Fs in nursing courses are not eligible for admission.
  • GPA of 2.75-2.99 will be considered if the applicant has scored a proficient level on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) test through ATI. View Union Testing Dates
  • No nursing courses will transfer from another university.

Please note - Below is a list of the required prerequisites and general education for ALL applicants. We prefer these courses be completed prior to the application deadline. However, these courses may be "in progress" as of the application deadline. These courses must be completed and transcripts requested and sent to Union by 1 month prior to the start date of the program. Please contact us with any questions regarding this.
