Standardized assessment is
a one-time or two-time process which involves the teacher to
quantify the students� progress using conventional
strategies. Although standardized tests have positive aspects
such as easy to assess and provides statistics that show the
students' overall progress, there is often overlooked negative
aspects to standardized tests.

- These tests can be used as a means of promoting students� to the
next grade level regardless of improvement.
- They are norm-referenced which compares their test scores to other
children test scores of the same grade or age level which do not
necessarily the students' daily improvements.
- These tests can be biased in reference to language, race, or gender.
