Student Right-To-Know

Student Life @ Union

General Information

All institutions of higher education eligible for Title IV funding are required, pursuant to the Federal Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act of 1990 (P.L. 101-542) to disclose certain information. Title 1, Section 103 requires the calculation of completion or graduation rates of certificate- or degree-seeking, full-time students entering an institution, and to disclose these rates to all students and prospective students. Further Section 104 requires each institution to prepare and report the graduation rates of student-athletics receiving athletically-related financial aid in a specific cohort. Union University also submits this data to the NCAA each year by June 1.

In regard to graduation rate information, please keep the following in mind:

  • By definition of the National Center for Education Statistics for the Graduation Rate, the student is allowed 150% of the normal time allotted to complete the degree; that is, a student seeking a (4-year) bachelors degree is allowed 6 years for completion.
  • Graduation rates are for all first-time, full-time degree-seeking students.
  • Graduation rates do not include students who left school
    • on official church missions
    • to serve in the armed forces
    • with a foreign aid service of the federal government
    • or students who died or were totally disabled.
  • Each year Union University submits student-athletes graduation rate data to the NCAA each year by June 1. The link under Graduation Rates takes one to the NCAA database. Then select Union University in the School drop-down menu. In regard to this database, please keep the following in mind:
    • Union University is Division II member of the NCAA. Thus, select "Div. II Academic Success Rates" in the upper bar of the NCAA website. Then selection Union University in the School section.
    • The NCAA reports two graduation or success rates:
      • FGR (Federal Graduation Rate) which is the defined as the Undergraduate Student Graduation rate described above.
      • ASR (Academic Success Rate) which begins with the FGR and adds transfer students, and non-scholarship students. Student-athletes who leave an institution while in good standing before exhausting eligibility are removed from the cohort.

Title II of the Act requires that institutions of higher education eligible for Title IV funding disclose certain information on campus crime statistics and campus security policies. Students are requested to report any crime or suspected crime on campus to the Office of Safety and Security where an official written report will be completed.

During regular office hours, any student, Union employee, or applicant for admission or employment may review the Union University Safety and Security Report and campus crime statistics. Copies of crime stats are available in the Office of Safety and Security. Statistics are also available online and can be accessed on this page.
