Feel free to give us a call to refer a student who may need more guidance and advice on opportunities related to their chosen major/minor. The Vocatio Center has a wealth of resources to share with students seeking more direction regarding experiential learning and recruitment opportunities. Also, we assist students who are undecided or wavering on their major. We would love to partner with you to help Union students solidify their major/minor courses of study and embrace their life calling.
If you advise students who are wavering on their major/minor or not showing a passion for the discipline, consider recommending gifts assessment and career counseling/coaching with the Vocatio Center. We're here to help students understand more clearly who God has uniquely created them to be and to assist them in discovering opportunities to live out their life calling in service to others. Therefore, we would love to partner with you to assist a student in pursuing the call that God has placed on their lives. Email vocatiocenter@uu.edu or call 731.661.5421 to make a referral today.
If your student needs assistance with graduate school research, evaluation of their personal statement, development of a leadership résumé or interview training for the graduate school application process, email vocatiocenter@uu.edu or call 731.661.5421.
Partner with UsEach year, the Vocatio Center partners with academic departments and faculty to serve students by academic discipline. If you would like to partner with us to offer professional development for your students in giftedness assessment, résumé development, interview training, employment search/strategy, portfolio development, social media marketing and/or salary negotiation, email vocatiocenter@uu.edu or call 731.661.5421.
Recommend a StudentFaculty and staff recommendations are critical to student success. If you have a student you would like to recommend to an employer for an internship or employment opportunity, please feel free to write a letter of recommendation (.pdf) on behalf of the student and email it to us for addition to the students' online Handshake portfolio. Additionally, you may provide the letter to the student in .pdf format so that they may upload the recommendation to their Handshake profile.
Post an SLP JobMany students help defray the costs of their education by working in the Servant Leadership Program at Union. Factors considered in matching students with jobs include the skills and experience of the student, the availability of a suitable job and, in some cases, financial eligibility of the student as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. In order to offer Servant Leadership opportunities to Federal Work Study-eligible and Union University Workship-eligible (UUWS) students, email shawley@uu.edu or call 731.661.5302. Or log on to Handshake with your Union network single sign-on, update your contact information and post a job.
Connect with EmployersIn order to support student success and positive outcomes, please let us know if you are willing to invite an employer on campus to speak in one of your classes or with one of your student organizations. Connecting with employers in this way often leads to competitive internships, job shadowing, informational interview and professional development opportunities our students otherwise would not know about. A willingness to meet with local, regional, national and international employers is important for our students' success. Email vocatiocenter@uu.edu to discuss opportunities to connect with the employers who support the University through internships, full-time and part-time employment opportunities and events sponsorships.
We offer a wide range of courses and events to help you.
