Position Summary Must be a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a man of character and integrity who views this position as a calling from God. His life must exemplify the purpose, philosophy, and doctrine of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. This role involves using music to draw people into the presence of God through powerful, Christ-centered worship. This individual will lead and shepherd worship leaders, oversee all aspects of planning, execution, and communication with volunteers.
Responsibilities - In collaboration with the pastor, plan and prepare weekly worship services and congregational events. - Enlist, develop, train and supervise volunteer vocalists and instrumentalists as they use their talents regularly in worship services and events. - In collaboration with age group staff/leaders, facilitate generational music ministries, including choirs, ensembles, instrumental ensembles as desired. - Lead in the research, development and selection of music ministry resources in accordance with church curriculum plans including annual budgets. - Lead with strong vocal and instrumental ability and effectively direct the congregation and fellow musicians to worship God. - Coordinate Christ-exalting music for all worship services and events by choosing songs that will engage all generations, support the preaching of God’s word, and coordinate with the calendar and emphases of the church. - Considerable sensitivity is required to insure respect for the diversity between traditional and contemporary worship music. - Supervise and coordinate the use and maintenance of sound, lights and live streaming. - Serve as a member of the pastoral staff team. Assist in pastoral care ministries.
Education and Experience A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Three to Five years of experience working in a Worship and Music ministry program in a church of comparable size is preferred.
