FBC Pastor Job Description: Principle Function: The pastor is responsible to the church for providing administrative leadership for the church and for using his skills in proclamation and pastoral care in meeting the needs of persons in the church and community. Responsibilities: 1. Provide administrative leadership for the total church program. 2. Proclaim the gospel and lead the church in proclaiming the gospel to the church and community. 3. Care for persons and lead the church in caring for persons in the church and community. 4. Lead c_ongregational services; work with the congregational services planning group to plan, coordinate and evaluate congregational services. 5. Supervise other members of the church staff according to the staff organization set forth in the church organizational chart or manual. 6. Provide leadership for the observance of church ordinances. 7. Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies. 8. Counsel with and assist in training deacons for their deacon responsibilities. 9. Handle Sunday morning radio broadcast. 10. Responsible for reviewing Sunday morning bulletin and making sure everything is correct. 11. Work with deacon chairman in preparing monthly meeting agenda. 12. Make himself available to church membership and others by spending some of his time in his church office. 13. Work with Sunday school superintendent and church nominating committee on completing / annual officers, co.,rnmittees, and teacher recommendations.
