POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMER INTERIM YOUTH PASTOR (late May- August, dates flexible)

A. Position Overview: 1. To direct and oversee the youth ministry grades 7-12. 2. To lead the youth to a deeper Christian commitment and spiritual growth through religious, recreational and mission activities. 3. To reach other youth for Christ.

B. Qualifications: 1. Demonstrates a stable, mature Christ centered life. 2. A bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, or related field (preferred but not required). 3. Demonstrate leadership abilities involving youth. 4. Ability to relate to the needs and feelings of others, to develop rapport and trust, to accept interpersonal differences and to deal effectively with others regardless of level or status. 5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with adults as well as youth. 6. Ability to see a task completed. 7. Basic office skills necessary to fulfill duties. 8. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

C. Direct Supervisor: Pastor or Personnel Committee in the absence of a pastor.

D. Job Responsibilities:

1. Spiritual Emphasis a. Lead youth to personally grow in their walk with Christ Jesus. b. Identify ways to include the youth in the ministry of the church. c. Identify and provide ministry opportunities for teens. d. Lead midweek Bible Study for youth. e. Support the Sunday School program.

2. Administrative a. Participate in ministerial staff meetings. b. Plan a summer calendar of activities, coordinating events with the various ministries of the church. c. Meet monthly with the Youth Committee to pray and discuss upcoming events, challenges, solutions and praises. d. Recruit adult youth workers and provide training as needed. e. Plan, prepare and coordinate weekly activities for the youth.

3. Community a. Identify the needs and interests of teens within the church and community. b. Support, participate, and encourage EFBC youth to attend and participate in appropriate community functions. c. Network with other youth ministers, encouraging support and cooperation for area wide focused ministries.
