Position: Media Director / Pastor Depending on background and calling, this role may transition into a pastoral position reporting directly to the Senior Pastor. Ministry: Churchwide Media Ministry Reports to: Worship Pastor Status: Full-Time, Exempt (Salaried) Schedule: 40 hours/week, Sunday–Thursday, with evenings/weekends as needed during peak seasons (e.g., Christmas at First, VBS) Compensation: Salary based on experience Primary Function The Media Director/Pastor leads all aspects of media production to help people connect with God through clear audio and compelling video, both in-person and online. This position must be filled by a disciple of Christ who strives to point all people to Christ and His glory. The role requires someone who can follow leadership well while also providing strong, Christ-centered leadership to others. It oversees churchwide sound, video, media, and IT systems—including coordination with third-party IT support—while building and equipping teams to support services and events. The ideal candidate is a creative leader and team builder with a passion for developing people and systems that support the growth of both individuals and the ministry. For those with a pastoral calling, the position will include pastoral responsibilities under the Senior Pastor. Qualifications A degree or certification in audio/broadcast production is preferred. Equivalent experience in church or professional media environments may qualify. Candidates should have experience in live and studio production, video editing, FOH and broadcast audio, and lighting systems. IT experience—including troubleshooting, systems management, and working with third-party IT support—is strongly desired. Familiarity with network infrastructure and cloud services is a plus. Strong organizational skills and leadership experience are essential. Required Skills A strong understanding of A/V systems, editing software, lighting consoles, multimedia tools, and IT systems is expected. Candidates must be able to adapt to the church’s worship style and design and develop systems to train volunteers. The role requires a self-starter who can take a concept from idea to execution while working collaboratively and building effective teams. Key Responsibilities Media & Production: Oversee all video broadcast, live streaming, and FOH audio for worship services. Lead and train volunteers and contractors. Approve and manage video content across ministries, including video-on-demand. Maintain and recommend media equipment upgrades. Direct service production, including visual elements like lyrics and sermon notes. IT & Systems Management: Maintain church network systems and oversee third-party IT support. Manage system security, hardware/software upgrades, and workflow for user requests. Develop and manage budgets for IT and A/V/L needs. Team Management / Building: Supervise the Media Specialist and lead a volunteer team of approximately 25. Actively identify and develop new leaders and volunteers to support media needs across the church. Collaboration: Work closely with all ministry departments, staff, and media team members to meet production needs for services, events, and digital content. Tools & Equipment Used Yamaha Console, Behringer Console, Vista Lighting System, iOS-based control systems, ProPresenter, Planning Center Online, Adobe Suite, and various video broadcast tools.
