Kids Ministry Director Area: Kids Ministry Reports To: Senior Pastor Location: Jackson, TN Last Revised: 7/7/2025 Position Summary The Kids Ministry Director will lead and cultivate a Christ-centered, safe, and fun environment for children (Birth–6th Grade) to grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus. This position is responsible for the strategy and execution of all aspects of children’s ministry, including Sunday and Wednesday programming, special events, and volunteer leadership. The Director must be passionate about discipling kids, equipping parents as spiritual leaders, and empowering volunteers to serve with joy and excellence. Key Responsibilities ? Disciple and supervise the discipleship of children (Birth–6th Grade) in the church. This would include Sunday School, Children’s Church, Wednesday night programming, and special events where attendance is required. ? Cultivate a welcoming environment for kids and their families. Utilize rooms and resources to provide a safe, secure, and age-appropriate learning space for kids. Develop relationships, retaining names and details about each child and their family. ? Be the lead point person for all inquiries about the Kids Ministry. As families become increasingly involved in our church, be prepared to share what is available for their children and how that will help them grow in their relationship with Jesus. ? Attend one-on-one meetings with the Senior Pastor for strategic planning and to receive other responsibilities as needed. Qualifications ? Must have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ. ? Must exhibit strong Christian character and competency as listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. ? Must hold to the convictions listed in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. ? Must have a Christ-like attitude in all aspects of life and ministry. Compensation ? This is a paid, part-time position of $30,000 annually for approximately 30 hours a week. One week of vacation after six (6) months of employment shall be granted with pay. Starting the next calendar year two weeks vacation time shall be granted with pay. At the end of the calendar year any unused vacation time will be paid and not carried over. Prerequisites ? Candidate must possess adequate skill and education for the position. The church prefers the candidate to have a Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university, or the equivalent related experience and training. ? Candidate must have skills with computers and digital media. ? Candidate must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to follow through with preparation, planning, and implementation of events. ? Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with children of various ages, as well as their parents. ? Candidate must be able to work within a given budget, collaborating with the finance committee on substantial purchases. ? Candidate must become a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church as a part of the onboarding process. ? Candidate must pass a background check.
