Interview with Ann Singleton, Education - recipient of the Teaching and Learning Grant-Conference Attendance

Ann Singleton

1. Briefly describe what you did with your Teaching and Learning Grant.

I and 2 additional faculty members presented at the International Teaching Professor Conference in Washington D.C.

2. How was your teaching and your students’ learning enhanced by this grant?

Our presentation, “Using Reflection to Improve Teaching,” renewed our commitment to using course evaluations from our students as an effective strategy for continuing to think about and improve our classroom teaching. In addition to the presentation we made, we attended additional sessions that gave us new ways of thinking about our teaching.

3. How did (or might) this grant award lead to other opportunities to further develop your teaching and enhance learning?

As we prepared for this presentation, we began to explore the importance of using the process of reflection as an important part of our teaching. As a result we have been accepted to present this new research at an international conference (International Society for the Exploration of Teaching and Learning) in October of this year.
