What responsibilities do I have?
As an employee, you are responsible for using technology resources in an appropriate way and for keeping Union's information and resources secure. Please review www.uu.edu/computing/employeeuse.htm. Our acceptable-use policy can be found at www.uu.edu/computing/aup.htm.

What does "logging in" mean?
Proper login to the university network is, in essence, identifying yourself to the university-wide computer system.

Why do you need to log in?
The university username and password (the information you are asked for when the computer starts up...sometimes referred to as the Microsoft login) are required before any of the following services will be available on campus:

  • printing to a networked laser printer (Windows users only)
  • e-mail
  • use of the campus network drives

Important! If you cannot access one or more of these services, please try restarting the computer and logging into the network again.

How do you log in and log out?
Please refer to the Welcome letter you should have received from Computing Services. This letter contains your username and password. If you did not receive this letter, contact the Employee Helpdesk at x3300 or 731-661-5525 (Jackson campus) or Tabitha Washburn at 901-759-0029 x126 (Germantown campus).

What resources do I have when I log in?

You will have access to various network drives, which are backed up centrally each night. G: is your personal file storage space. T: connects you to others in your department. I: connects you to all other employees. Students do not have access to any of these drives.

In addition, you will also have access to university-provided e-mail.
