228th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society

SAACS President presented the Union SAACS poster entitled, "Springtime in the Union University SAACS Chapter" at the Successful Student Affiliates Chapters Poster Session.

Kentucky Lake ACS Section Meeting

Our chapter hosted a joint meeting of two ACS sections on our campus. The evening events included dinner, business, and a presentation by Dr. James O'Brien from Southwest Missouri State University entitled "Famous Mat Hatters." At the Spring National ACS meeting in San Diego, our chapter was given an award for its hospitality at this event.

Special Kentucky Lake ACS Section Meeting (Union University)

SAACS members planned and hosted this event on Union's campus. The guest speaker was Dr. Marvin Lang, who assisted by SAACS students, gave a presentation with explosive demonstrations entitled, "The Elements of Chemical Leadership."

Kentucky Lake Section Meeting (University of Tennessee, Martin, Tennessee)

While at Martin, some of students performed chemical demonstrations while at the meeting.

Kentucky Lake Section Meeting (Paris Landing State Park)

The SAACS members participated in the Kentucky Lake Chemical Education Symposium. The event culminated with the keynote presentation by Dr. Melvin Joesten entitled, "Vanderbilt Student Volunteers for Science."

Undergraduate Student Research Colloquium (University of Memphis)

Students from the Union SAACS chapter attended and presented their research, and two of the students won prizes for their research presentations.

229th Meeting of the American Chemical Society (San Diego, California)

Five members presented their research in the CHED Poster Sessions. Our chapter presented a poster during SCI-Mix which featured aspects of our CISA project.

28th Area Collegiate Chemistry Meeting (Murray State University in Murray Kentucky)

SAACS students were fortunate to have the opportunity to present their research at this meeting held at Murray State University n Murray, Kentucky. Here, we were also fortunate to meet with the President-Elect of ACS, Dr. Anne McNally.

Kentucky Lake Section of the American Chemical Society (Martin Tennessee)

Members of SAACS traveled to Martin, Tennessee for a dinner and heard Dr. Dick Field of the University of Montana give a presentation entitled, "Erwin Schrodinger: The Discoverer of Molecular Wave Mechanics."
