SAACS Social Activities

Pizza in the Pit - September 8th, 2004:

This activity was a department-wide back-to-school celebration and recruitment of SAACS members.

Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Social - September 29th, 2004:

This event was a major hit among science students and other students throughout the Union University chapter. This was a recruiting event for freshman, but students of all disciplines joined in the fun and the event was even featured in the Cardinal and Cream.

Back-to-School Party - September 10th, 2004:

Students and professors of the Chemistry and Physics departments gathered at the home of Dr. Hathcox for a bar-b-que and annual volleyball game between faculty and students.

Millimole Day! - October 26th, 2004:

Festivities included eating a Mole Cake, smashing a mole pinata, crowning the Mole King and Queen, and giving out leaflets about healthy college living.

Periodic Table of Cupcakes - October 27th, 2004:

The SAACS Chapter celebrated our designation as an Outstanding Chapter with a Periodic Table of Cupcakes. Cupcakes were made for elements of the most current Periodic Charts. Approximately 130 Union students and faculty enjoyed eating their favorite "element".

Fun Run/Walk - October 28th, 2004:

In observance of the theme of National Chemistry Week this year, Union SAACS members put on a Fun Run/Walk to promote health and wellness. Prizes were given to top finishers in each category.

Garfield Study Break - December 14, 2004:

Dr. and Mrs. Baldwin provided Garfield's favorite meal, lasagna, as well as salad and homemade cheesecakes. This is a traditional SAACS function during the Christmas season, held just before students leave for the holidays.

Spring Celebration - May 6th, 2005:

Students and faculty gathered at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Salazar to celebrate the coming of spring with an annual picnic and game of volleyball.
