The Digital Media Lab is a 20-computer, multi-purpose lab designed to provide our students with all the tools they need for a variety of creative projects. The lab is equipped with new Intel-based iMacs loaded with all the software they need, including Creative Suite, Final Cut Studio, Lightwave 3D and Quark Xpress. Students take a number of graphic design, video production and interactive media classes in the lab, and the lab is open to majors when classes are not in progress.

The TV Studio is not only a learning lab for television production classes, but serves as the home of our weekly news program (Focus on Jackson), our high school scholarship game show (Head 2 Head), and a number of other televised events. All of the productions produced in the TV Studio are televised on one of our local cable systems or local network affiliates, and all of them are completely student produced and student directed.

The Mobile Production Unit provides our students with a variety of live broadcasting experiences. Last year, Broadcasting and Digital Media students worked to televise Union Bulldog basketball games, West Tenn. DiamondJaxx double-A baseball games, the Carl Perkins Circles of Hope telethon, and Union's Baptist Identity Conference, all live and all student directed and produced.

The Edit Suite is our high-definition editing suite, designed for advanced student projects and student directed films. The Edit Suite features a quad-core MacPro running Final Cut Studio and Creative Suite, a 23-inch Cinema Display for editing and a 42-inch plasma monitor for playback of their HD footage.

For students whose focus is using the camera to communicate their message, the Photo House is their home. Within its walls are housed a visuals classroom, film and digital editing areas, a 15 enlarger darkroom, spacious film lab and a studio with a wide range of lighting capabilities. From the basics of seeing an image, to the advanced methods and techniques being used in visual communication today, students gain a broad perspective and understanding of this rapidly evolving field.

The W.D. Powell Theatre provides the community with a significant range of theatre experiences, while at the same time, supporting the creative work of our artists. The 250-seat, black box theatre features a flexible staging area and lighting & sound system. Theatre students also benefit from a separate workshop, practice hall and prop/costume shop.

The Presentation Lab is a multi-purpose, flexible classroom space that is used for a variety of courses, from Public Communication and Interpersonal Communication to Film Theory & Criticism and Communications Law. The 30-person classroom can be configured for traditional presentations or for small group activities, and it features technology needed for today's multimedia presentations.
