Journalism Students Win at SEJC

Ten Union Journalism students attended the Southeast Journalism Conference, held last weekend at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. They earned honors in many categories, with top honors going to Jonathan Huskey and Katherine Pullen.

In the Best of the South Competition, honors were:

Best Sports Writer, Jonathan Huskey, 1st place.
Best Editorial Artist, Emily Rawls, 2nd place.
Best Press Photographer, Kyle Kurlick, 2nd Place.
Best News Reporter, Sarah McBroom, 3rd place.

Honors given to Union students for the Onsite Competition were:

Feature Writing, Katherine Pullen, 1st place.
News Writing honors, Katie Shatzer, 2nd place.
Entertainment Writing, Katherine Kipp, 2nd place.
Public Relations Campaign team, Elizabeth Wood & Daniel Callicott, 3rd place.

The Cardinal & Cream won 8th Overall in the Onsite Competition at SEJC 2009.
