Idrees Hamzeh - Class of 2010
Project Engineer Nuclear Analyzer Products. Meggitt Safety Systems, Inc.
One aspect about Union's Engineering Department that I believe is very important
is what I can call the Support System. The fact that even though there are designated Office Hours, but
still professors at Union were always there for those who were seeking help or
answers, left a tremendous impact on my learning process. This, to me,
goes beyond mere QA sessions. It entails a lot of the honest claim that students
are a priority for the Engineering faculty at Union. It goes beyond finding a
way to solve a stubborn textbook H.W. problem. It proceeds, if sought, to cover
real life examples, most importantly career nature/situations/needs topped with
some guidance on what it takes to make right choices and moves in that regard.
I left Union equipped with a good deal of tools that allow me to make career
choices based on an earned level of confidence in my engineering knowledge. That
confidence did not come from void; it is the result of hard work, coupled with
the input of the Support System mentioned above.
Engineering student to rest assured that help is always there. They will always
find the faculty ready to even put their lunch away and provide what is within
reach.
