W. Terry Lindley |
![]() Dr. W. Terry Lindley is Professor of History. He has a B.A. in History from Texas A&M University (1972), and M.A. in Modern European History from the University of New Orleans (1975), and a Ph.D. in 20th-Century American History from Texas Christian University (1985). In addition, Dr. Lindley did post-doctoral work under Dr. William Estep in Reformation and American Church History at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1986). Dr. Lindley teaches: World Civilization; American History Survey; American Foreign Policy; America, 1914-1945; The United States in the Cold War Era, 1945-1991; Renaissance and Reformation; Ancient History and American Church History. Dr. Lindley has published book reviews in Baptist History and Heritage, Fides et Historia, Christian Scholars Review, Ohio Valley History, Journal of Church and State, Journal of Religion and Popular Culture, CHOICE, and Journal of American Culture. He has published articles in Baptist History and Heritage, Tennessee Baptist History, Texas Baptist History, and the Journal of Union’s Faculty Forum. Dr. Lindley is currently researching the Southern Baptist response to the Vietnam War, especially how the various Southern Baptist seminaries, colleges and universities reacted to this conflict. He is also looking at the Southern Baptist response to the Jesus Movement. Dr. Lindley has been faculty sponsor of the Rutledge Honorary History Club for over fifteen years and is active in Phi Alpha Theta.
