UNION AMONG TOP BUSINESS SCHOOLS

It came as good news to Dan and Brenda Davidson.

Union University’s School of Business Administration was recently ranked in the top 10 Christian business schools in America by Business Reform magazine.  The school landed on the same list as Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss.

The Davidsons have owned Davidson Titles for 25 years.  They started their business, which sells books to public and school libraries throughout the country, several years after Dan graduated from Union’s business department and Brenda graduated with a degree in education.

They’ve been impressed with Union ever since they were students there.  Four years ago, their son graduated from the business department.

Dan Davidson said he took away many lessons from Union.  And as a graduate from a Christian business school, he operates his business by the Golden Rule.

“The only way to be truly successful is to treat your customers and the people you buy from the way you’d want to be treated,” he said.  “Your vendors remember that, your customers remember that and at the end of the day, you’re benefiting your company by doing what’s right.”

Union’s Dean of Business Administration, Keith Absher, said that a big part of why the school was selected for the list was the integration of faith into the curriculum.  Integrity and successful business practices can co-exist, he said.

“We may have gotten some of these ideas from the problems at Enron and Tyco that you can’t be an upstanding Christian and a part of big business,” he said.  “Companies are really going to start to look at ethics more and more and more in selecting employees.
