| Earn college credits while you work.
Internships offer college students the opportunity to work and earn college
credit. You can earn up to six hours working at jobs providing significant, new
learning experiences. You must work a minimum of 150 hours for 3 hours credit.
You will be required to write two papers, a short (1-2 pages) paper about your
interview for the internship and a longer (4-6 pages) paper about what you
learned during the internship. In addition you will be required to keep a daily
log of what you do. For more information, contact Debbie Newell at 661-5486 or

I
had the privilege to intern at the Tampa Field Claim Office of
MetLife Auto
and Home this past summer, where I assisted in handling auto claims as well
as customer service phone lines. The experience taught me so many things on
so many different levels. Academically, I have learned more about a
particular field of business—insurance. Socially, I have made several
friends and used my social skills to deal with customers and coworkers. And
finally, I have been granted an excellent dose of reality. I now have a
better comprehension of working 40 hours a week and being “grown up.”
Overall, I had a wonderful experience working and learning from the
interesting people who make up MetLife. When asked, “Have you met life
today?” I can answer with a resounding, “Yes!”
