The distinctive mission of the Department of Music

Academics:  For students who are pursuing one of our numerous options for a major or minor in music, we provide undergraduate courses in music theory, music history and literature, music education, church music, and general musicianship.  We also provide studies in solo and ensemble performance.  We are further committed to serving students in other academic majors by providing appropriate courses, opportunities for ensemble participation, and public recitals and concerts.

Christian values:  We strive to give a positive witness to the Christian faith as the unifying principle around which one relates learning, worship, and service to all of life.

Development of the whole person:  It is our aim to nurture students by providing the opportunities and resources for them to develop wholeness in the context of a community of Christian learners.

Personal attention: We demonstrate concern for students by giving personal attention to their needs, both inside and outside the formal classroom experience.
