Custom clarinet mouthpieces and refacing work on your clarinet and hard rubber saxophone mouthpieces
New Custom Bb Clarinet MouthpiecesWelcome to the McClune Mouthpiece Service.
For over 20 years I have been refacing mouthpieces to help students and professionals refine the playing qualities of mouthpieces they owned. In 1999 I expanded into making a line of custom mouthpieces all based on the designs and playing qualities of the old Kaspars. My goal is a mouthpiece which has a balance of warmth, center, and always a singing quality in the tone. I make a mouthpiece that is free blowing with minimal jaw and breath resistance. This allows you to adjust reeds to add the type of resistance you prefer. This hobby has grown to a part time business with sales in 14 countries. I am thrilled to announce that Muncy Winds will be stocking my most popular three facings for your trials. I make custom clarinet mouthpieces using French and German blanks. They
are made with flat tables, medium long facings (36 or 18mm) and tip openings
ranging from 1.02mm-1.08mm. The mouthpieces require minimal blowing and lip
resistance, and have a beautiful smooth tone. These traditional facings
allow the mouthpieces to feel very natural to the embouchure and air stream.
My goal is a mouthpiece you can forget about and just make music with. I
fine tune the mouthpieces with either a Vandoren V12 #4 or a Gonzalez "For
My Friends" 3 ¾ reeds. Many players find they move to a ¼ to ½ lighter reed
to play these facings. If you currently play on one of the popular
medium-short length and closed tip mouthpieces, you definitely need to
lighten ½ strength. |
