DARIN W. WHITE, Ph.D.
Dr. Darin W. White is Associate Professor of Business at Union University and Director of the Strategic Research Center, Inc.
A native of Alabama, Dr. White earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Birmingham-Southern College (cum laude) in 1989. He received the degrees of Masters of Arts (cum laude; 1992) and Doctor of Philosophy (1995) from the University of Alabama.
Dr. White is an expert in behavioral research techniques, particularly in the area of structural equation modeling. His research, teaching, and writing interests focus primarily on organizational marketing and financial strategy in two key industries: finance & banking institutions and the non-profit arena. His articles have appeared in such publications as the Journal of Strategic Marketing, Journal of Ministry and Marketing Management, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Service, Bank Marketing, and Franchise Update. He has published multiple articles in the area of para-church advertising strategy. He is currently writing his first book, Maximizing the Harvest, with his colleague Dr. Robert Brooks of the University of Alabama. He recently served as a reviewer for Introduction to Investments by Haim Levy.
Dr. White is quickly becoming nationally known as a leading social scientist researcher for para-church ministries. He has consulted with numerous non-profit and para-church ministries including Promise Keepers, The American Family Association, The American Heart Association, Today’s Family, The National Center for Fathering, United Way, Growing Families International, Presbyterian Church USA, and several non-profit health care organizations. A few years ago he conducted the analysis for the National Study of Committed Promise Keeper Men and presented his findings to Promise Keeper officials. The results of this study were instrumental in determining the program design for the 1997 "Making of a Godly Man" Promise Keepers event season. Dr. White also analyzed the Promise Keepers conference survey data and developed the Promise Keepers Satisfaction Model.
In addition, Dr. White participated in the Promise Keepers Research Summit. He was one of only twelve social scientists and researchers invited to participate in this critical long-range strategic planning session. Men were invited from Biola University, Fuller Theological Seminary, Today's Family, the National Center for Fathering, Trinity Evangelical Seminary, and Denver Theological Seminary. Dr. White was one of only two researchers invited from undergraduate institutions of higher education.
Dr. White has received numerous commendations and honors. He was given the Watson/Little Memorial Award and the American Marketing Association Doctoral Consortium Award by the University of Alabama. He was also named Civitan’s Outstanding Male Citizen. Dr. White is widely sought as a commentator on contemporary marketing and financial issues; among his media credits is a national radio news story detailing a major economic impact study he conducted. He has been a guest on multiple news/talk radio programs and is widely quoted in such publications as Jackson Sun, Chamber News, Light, and the West Tennessee Business Journal. His service to the local community has included extensive work with the Jackson-Madison County School Board and the Performing Arts Council. Dr. White and his wife also serve the community by teaching parenting classes to dozens of young couples every year. They are also very active in the West Tennessee Home Schooling Association.
Dr. White, 33, has been married to Laura for ten years. They have six children, Daniel (8), Corey (6), Avery (5), Bethany (3), and Hannah (2) and Abigail (1).
