Constantine I (306 - 337 AD), AE follis

 

Obverse: IMP C FL VAL CONSTANTINVS P F AVG; laureate head facing right.

 

Reverse: HERCULI VICTORI; Hercules in “Hercules Farnese” style standing, leaning on club, which is draped with a lion’s skin.  * and Δ in left field.

 

Exergue: SMN; Nicomedia. 4th officina.

 

Notes: This issue rare for Constantine and Licinius. An Antioch version is dated AD 313.  Ex Ancient Treasures (Plamen Arsoff); purchased as part of a two-follis lot.  Code XL.

Reverse: GENIO AVGVSTI; In field: */N/palm branch – A; Genius standing left, holding head of Serapis and cornucopia.
