Scripture Thoughts, etc.

I know some have told you that the way to take leadership, step up, progress in manhood is to get married.  However, I must differ.  Marriage is the last thing some of you need to be thinking of just now...

‘And if you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each man’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay upon earth’ (1 Pet 1:17).  I know far too little of the fear of God . . .

Though we as modern evangelicals give assent to the imminent return of Christ, I do not think this truth has much impact on the life of the average church or the individual believer. I think this is in some ways tied to the fact that our age is not given to thinking beyond the present anyway . . .

Philippians 2:3-4 ‘Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others’ . . .

We are commanded to hate sin. You will not hate what you spend time enjoying, what you delight in, what you turn to for solace. You must hate it. Cut off all contact. Give it no place or time. Despise even the thought or mention of it.

Far too often our Bible material for children is embarrassingly shallow.  So much that passes as bible stories for children these days is a sham.  The great stories of scripture are turned into cute and cuddly little tales.  The result of this is that many people think of Bible stories as something for children..
