Sean Evans is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science at Union
University. A graduate of Lipscomb
University, He completed his M.A. at the University
of Alabama and his Ph.D. at the University
of Colorado. His expertise is the American National Institutions
(Congress, Presidency, and the Courts) and elections and his research
has been published in American Politics Quarterly, Vital
Statistics of American Politics, and the Encyclopedia of the
United States Constitution. He is currently researching strategic retirement
from the House of Representatives and the
differences in careers between majority and minority party members in the
House of Representatives.
Dr. Evans is a member of the American Political
Science Association, Southern
Political Science Association, and the
Tennessee
Political Science Association and is currently President of the TPSA. Active in civic engagement, he speaks to local community
groups, writtes op-eds for the Jackson Sun, and provides
political analysis for the Jackson Sun, WBBJ, and FoxNews.com. He is also
serves as the

This Fall, he is teaching Introduction
to Political Science (PSC 111), Politics and Government of
the U.S. (PSC 211), and Political
Parties in the US (PSC 319).
