Sean Evans is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Political
Science at Union University. A graduate of Lipscomb University, he completed his M.A.
at the University of Alabama and his Ph.D. at
the University of Colorado.
His expertise is the American National Institutions (Congress, Presidency,
and the Courts) and elections and his research has been published in American
Politics Quarterly, Vital Statistics of American Politics, and the
Encyclopedia of the United States Constitution. He is currently
researching strategic retirement from the House of Representatives and U.S.
Dr. Evans is a member of the American
Political Science Association and Southern
Political Science Association and is a past President of the Tennessee Political Science
Association. Active in civic engagement, he speaks to local
community groups, writes op-eds for the Jackson Sun, and provides
political analysis for the Jackson Sun, WBBJ, Commercial-Appeal, The
Tennessean, and Jackson 24/7.
He is also serves as the pre-law advisor at Union. For more information

This Spring, he is teaching Politics and Government of the U.S., Research Methods,
and the American Presidency.
