Students, faculty and staff members of the UUSOP gave up 3 days of their Spring Break to conduct a health screening mission at Regional Inter-Faith Association located in downtown Jackson, TN. More than 50 patients were screened over the 3 days for such things as body mass index (BMI), blood glucose to check for diabetes, blood pressure to check for hypertension and cholesterol checks. In addition to the screenings, patient education was offered on getting to and maintaining a healthy body weight, healthy eating, and managing your diabetes and high blood pressure. Members of the SOP family also participated in daily chapel services, served in the soup kitchen, and packed bags of food for the RIFA Snack Backpack Program which sends food home with school children every Friday during the school year that might not get a meal until they come back to school the next Monday.
