Jonathan Mitchell Takes Office in TSSP

Congratulations to UUSOPs Jonathan Mitchell from the Class of 2014. He was voted in and assumed office as President-Elect for the Tennessee Society of Student Pharmacists (TSSP) at the February 2012 TSSP Annual Meeting held in Nashville, Tennessee. He will assume the role of President of TSSP at the February 2013 TSSP Annual Meeting. When asked about what he wanted to accomplish while in office, Mitchell responded. "Over the next two years as President-elect and then President, I plan on serving each student pharmacist by being their collective and representative voice; to advocate for and improve the health and welfare of Tennesseans; to provide opportunities for personal and professional development; to advocate for the provision of quality of pharmacy education; to facilitate continued involvement and leadership upon graduation; and to envision and shape the future of pharmacy."

SOP Health Screening Mission at RIFA over Spring Break

Students, faculty and staff members of the UUSOP gave up 3 days of their Spring Break to conduct a health screening mission at Regional Inter-Faith Association located in downtown Jackson, TN. More than 50 patients were screened over the 3 days for such things as body mass index (BMI), blood glucose to check for diabetes, blood pressure to check for hypertension and cholesterol checks.
