The Union University School of Pharmacy student chapter of National Community Pharmacist Association (NCPA) recently hosted a canned food and toy drive to benefit the families and children at the Dream Center. The Dream Center is a local Christian organization that provides housing for women and their children while the mothers find jobs to get back on their feet. Students collected a total of 90 canned food items and 306 toys throughout the first few weeks of November, which were delivered to the Dream Center on Friday, November 18, 2011 by NCPA members.

The Union University School of Pharmacy student chapter of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) recently hosted Dr. Joga Gobburu to speak on the role of pharmacometrics in drug development. Dr. Gobburu is a distinguished scientist who served in the FDA for 14 years, and was most recently the Director of the Division of Pharmacometrics, Office of Clinical Pharmacology at the FDA. Dr. Gobburu has worked on more than 250 NDA/BLAs, hundreds of protocols/INDs/QT reports, numerous advisory committee meetings, disease models, approval/labeling directions, and several policies ranging from bioequivalence, 505b(2) to clinical end points. Currently, Dr. Gobburu is a Professor in the Schools of Pharmacy and Medicine at the University of Maryland. Dr. Gobburu has expressed an interest in collaborations in pharmacometrics with the Union University School of Pharmacy students and faculty.
