Poet Presentation Instructions
You will be assigned (yes, assigned) a partner for this activity. You and your partner will research online any poet that has work that has been published in a book (example: You are free to choose Tupac Shakur, because he has a book in print. You may not choose other rappers who only have CD’s or DVD’s). You can also choose a more “traditional” poet (i.e. Walt Whitman). Use your text book for ideas of what poets you can choose. (knowledge, comprehension, analysis)
You will look at any or all of the following websites:
NOTE: Make sure you read all of the articles you pull-up. Sometimes, sites contain disputed information. This is why you MUST use more than one website in order to validate your information. (evaluation)
Using the websites, you will collect research on your poet. You will then create a PowerPoint presentation that is five slides long including the title slide. You will include the following information in the presentation:
The poet’s name
Information about where he or she lived
Information about his/her work(s)
Information about his/her writing style
Information about one of his/her most famous works
BE SURE to give credit in your PowerPoint presentation to all of the websites you use to gather your information. You MUST site these websites in your presentation.
You are free to use other features in PowerPoint that we did not cover in the tutorial, but it is not required. You will share your presentation with the class. You will also print a handout of your presentation and turn it into me.
