#1  Construct a list of 10 or more facts regarding slavery and the underground railroad.  Use at least 3 of the websites to collect your information.

#2  Produce a slide show of your information from #1 by creating a PowerPoint presentation.  If you need help using PowerPoint, go to the following link (how to use PowerPoint).  Select the most interesting facts you have researched and create a presentation with 10 - 15 slides.  Your first slide will be a title slide and your last slide will name the people in your group who helped to create the PowerPoint.

#3  Listen to some of the spirituals on the spiritual website and create an original spiritual (one per group).  Your original lyrics (words) can be sung to the tune of an existing spiritual or any familiar song (Twinkle, Mary, Jingle Bells, Jesus Loves Me, etc.).  If you need help with using Word, go to the following link (how to use Word).  Type up a Word document (one per group) and be prepared to perform for the class.

#4  Pretend you are a slave during the Civil War and justify/defend your reason for escaping (evaluation) and type it up in a Word document.  This activity needs to be done individually (one page per person).

REFLECTIONS:  In your group, discuss how your findings from this project affects us today (society, education, religion, etc.).
