Content Standard 1.0

The student will develop the reading and listening skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of print and non-print text.

 

1.1.05 Develop and use decoding strategies.

a.      Use knowledge of letter-sound correspondence knowledge and structural analysis to decode grade appropriate words.

 

1.1.06 Read to develop fluency, expression, accuracy and confidence.

d.  Demonstrate the automatic recognition of high frequency words.

 

Math

 

Content Standard 1.0

The student will develop number and operation sense needed to represent numbers and number relationships verbally, symbolically, and graphically and to compute fluently and make reasonable estimates in problem solving.

 

1.2.1 Sort and classify objects by size, number, and other properties.

a.      Sort objects by the following attributes: color, size, shape, and kind.

 

1.5.1 Develop, select, and use appropriate methods to collect, organize, display, and analyze data.

a.      represent and interpret data using concrete objects, pictures, pictographs, and bar graphs.

 

Social Studies

 

Content Standard 1.0

Culture encompasses similarities and differences among people, including their beliefs, knowledge, changes, values, and traditions. Students will explore these elements of society to develop an appreciation and respect for the variety of human cultures.
