Arboretum

How can you be involved?

treesThere are two ways to become involved in the Arboretum.

  • The first is to adopt an existing tree on campus, which can be done "in honor of" or "in memory of" a special person/people in your life. This adoption will have several features:
    1. Selection of tree from our list of trees. Adoption of one of these trees will be at the $500 (Tax-Deductible Portion: $500) level. These include existing trees on campus, or, eventually, new trees to be planted.
    2. Opportunity to commemorate the tree "in honor of" or "in memory of" the person/people of your choice.
    3. The selection of a Bible verse or quotation from one of the "heroes of the Christian Intellectual Tradition" to be placed on the sign.
    4. Those adopting a tree will receive a framed print of an artist's rendering of the Arboretum.
While we anticipate that the selected trees will thrive as part of our Arboretum for an extended period of time, it will be necessary to periodically replace trees. While we will do our best to replace your tree with the same species in a nearby location, this may not always be possible. We will do our best to work with you in providing a replacement tree.
  • The second way you can become involved is to become a "Friend of the Union University Arboretum." This involves yearly ongoing participation with the Arboretum. Different levels (with annual giving amounts) include:
    • The "Cedar" level = $50 (Tax-Deductible Portion: $50)
    • The "Sycamore" level = $25 (Tax-Deductible Portion: $25)
Participants at the "Cedar" level will receive a "Union University Arboretum" tumbler, while those at the "Sycamore" level will receive a "Union University Arboretum" umbrella.
