Louise Pearson Memorial Arboretum
The Louise Pearson Memorial Arboretum was established in 2001 by the Bells Garden Club. It is located in Green Frog Village on Highway 412 between Bells and Alamo in Crockett County. Many native trees were already present on the site when the project began.
Club members named the arboretum in memory of former garden club member, Louise Pearson.
It was certified as a Level I Arboretum in 2002 by the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council in cooperation with the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs.
In 2002, the club was awarded a PETALS Grant which it used to provide maintenance and add trees. More trees were added in 2003 through a tree planting grant given in cooperation with the local 4-H clubs. A number of trees have also been donated as memorials.
The arboretum was certified as a Level II Arboretum in 2006. In 2007, the club received a grant from the USDA Forest Service and Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry, to publicize arboretum resources.
