Department Graduates Five Students

The Department said goodbye to five bright young men who graduated this past Saturday. We thank them for studying with us and wish them the best as they move forward in their lives.
Charlie Ellis of Spring Arbor, MI graduated after playing and starting for four years on Union's baseball team. Moreover, he won the John Burgess Award for Outstanding Work in political science. He was accepted into the law schools he applied and narrowed his options to Wake Forest, Texas A&M, and Baylor. He received scholarship offers to each one but eventually decided to become a Demon Decon this fall.
Baker Evans of Jackson, TN is also going to law school narrowing his choices to Ole Miss and the University of Memphis. He will attend Ole Miss law school on a full scholarship this fall.
Clark Hubbard of Franklln, TN is following up getting married earlier this year with graduating with a double major in English and Political Science. He will teach English at Sacred Heart High School in Jackson and continue his work on his first novel.
Josiah McGee of Kansas City, MO will continue his work with Passages as Associate Director of Alumni Education. He took his first trip to Israel with Passages two years ago and was a student leader on trips last summer. His time with Passages also helped him attend the AIPAC conference in Washington, D.C. Josiah was also very active in student government while at Union rising to serve as Vice President of SGA. He hopes to attend graduate school in international relations in a year or two.
James Mathew Wyatt of Paris, TN was very active in politics winning the Department's Civic Engagement Award in 2018 for his work as Chair of UU College Republicans, campaign manager of Jake Bynum (Weakley County Mayor), and working on Bill Lee's gubernatorial campaign and Scott Conger's Jackson Mayoral campaign. He was very active in theatre at Union and will be starting a job as the theatre teacher at Henry County High School this fall.
