5 Students Attend March for Life

Posted Jan 28, 2025

Five Political Science students attended the March for Life in Washington, D.C. this year. Each year, Union sends multiple students to this event. This year, five of our majors attended – Lydia Agee, Anna LaPour, Sarah Grace Patrick, Carmen Rubado, and Quinton Stephenson.

The students marched on a very cold January day. Before the march, students heard from political leaders, abortion survivors, mothers, and previous abortionists. Some of the students thought the event was somewhat surreal because while they were marching, others who supported abortion countermarched. Even though people yell at each other, they remained civil during the march.

After the march, students attended the National Pro-Life Summit to learn how to advance pro-life issues. Overall, they heard from Vice President J.D. Vance, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Dr. Ben Carson, and many more. At the summit, students learned of legislative efforts to restrict abortion, the best way to communicate pro-life views, and how to think through pro-life issues beyond abortion.

One student, Carmen Rubado, has committed to furthering her work in the pro-life movement. She is increasing her involvement with Life139 on campus, networking with other pro-life leaders across the nation, and working through a tailored leadership guide for those within the pro-life movement provided by leaders of 40 Days for Life.
