Journalism

Union Journalism prepares students to compete at the highest level of the print, online, magazine, and book industries by building a unique brand and voice. Union journalists gain experience in news writing, feature writing, podcasting, and creative nonfiction, in addition to pitching story concepts and editing stories for publication. Union journalists publish weekly articles via Cardinal & Cream online and the Cardinal & Cream magazine and are invited to compete for generous editorial scholarships.

At the Southeast Journalism Conference, Cardinal & Cream has been named Best College Magazine five of the last ten years. Since 2011, students have won dozens of individual awards including Best Entertainment Writer, Best Magazine Writer, Best Multimedia Journalist, and College Journalist of the Year.
