Greetings and Happy New Year!

I hope your new year is off to a great start. Although it seems that we just turned the pages of the calendar, the first month of 2015 is gone!

I always enjoy the lull after the storm of the holidays that settles upon us during the beginning of the New Year providing a welcomed respite from all of the busyness of the holiday season. This is a great time to reflect upon the accomplishments of the past year as we look forward to the promises of the future.

Along that line of reflection, it is with great joy that I share with you exciting news from the Union University School of Pharmacy. The year-end report from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy informed us that the UUSOP Class of 2014 graduates achieved a 100% First-time Pass Rate on the NAPLEX Licensing Board Exam! This news in itself is outstanding. However, the detail of these scores is even more gratifying. The mean national average on the exam was a score of 103. The Union University School of Pharmacy mean average score was 114, which is 11 points higher than the national average! Likewise, 87% of the UUSOP students were above the national average and 85% of the UUSOP students were above the state average of 104. I offer a hearty and heartfelt word of congratulations to our students and our faculty on these remarkable results, which reflect the hard work of these students and validate the quality of the curriculum and excellent teaching in this program.

We look toward the coming year with great excitement and anticipation. We are in the midst of recruiting an excellent Class of 2019. Our current students are very bright and are doing exceptional work. Our postgraduate residency and fellowship programs are flourishing. Our faculty and staff are involved in numerous outstanding and noteworthy scholarship and research initiatives. Our new University President, Dr. Samuel W "Dub" Oliver, and senior leaders are making great strides in advancing our mission and core values. Our beautiful campus is being further enhanced with a gorgeous 18 million dollar library and resource center. Yes, the future looks very bright at Union University for 2015 and beyond! We have much for which to be thankful!

Thank you so much for your encouragement and support of our work. We appreciate your prayers and the contribution of so many, who have given much personal time and energy to join us on this journey. At your request, we have made it easier for you to partner financially with the School of Pharmacy for advancement and student scholarships. To do so, visit our online Giving form, and be sure to designate your gift specifically for the School of Pharmacy Scholarship Fund. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

May health, happiness, and God's blessings be yours in the coming year!

Warmest of wishes,
Sheila Mitchell, Dean
