GO Trips & COVID-19

Sent March 6, 2020 to all students signed up for GO Trips

Hello GO Trippers,

We wanted to provide some communication regarding travel on 2020 GO Trips and COVID-19 concerns. As of right now, no decisions have been made to cancel or change travel plans for Spring Break GO Trips; however, as Dean Carrier said in his email, things are evolving daily and we will continue to monitor the impact worldwide and to our community here at Union.

I have been in touch with Spring Break GO Trip partners today and, like everyone else, they too are monitoring and evaluating the impact as it relates to their context, community, and work.

We regularly receive updates from the State Department as well as from consultants who provide the university with both general and location specific updates related to international travel. As always, we will continue to monitor travel these recommendations, alerts, and advisories related to locations where GO Trip teams will be traveling.

In addition to the links provided by Dean Carrier, we recommend the following links to resources related to travel and COVID-19. There is a lot of information available about the Corona virus, but sources such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Department of State, and the Jackson-Madison County Health Department will continue to inform our assessments going forward.

Please know that we will keep you as updated as possible as your trip approaches.

Blessings,
Julie Bradfield
