Bio:
Pamela Binns-Turner was born in St Louis, Missouri and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia graduating from M.D. Collins High School in May 1976. The following September she entered Berry College for liberal arts study in Rome, Georgia. She then completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1992 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she graduated cum laude. After gaining experience in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital, she attended the Nurse Anesthesia Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and graduated with a Master in Nurse Anesthesia in 1996. After six years of anesthesia practice that included a variety of settings (suburban private hospitals, office-based anesthesia, rural public hospitals, and independent locum tenens), she was appointed Assistant Professor and Director of Admissions of the Nurse Anesthesia Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in December 2002. She is pursuing her PhD in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, Southern Nursing Research Society, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and the Tennessee Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
She is married to Andy Turner and has two sons, Joshua and Jacob. She is the Assistant Program Director and Assistant Professor for Nurse Anesthesia in the Union University School of Nursing. Current instruction includes nurse anesthesia coursework in the MSN curriculum.
