Homecoming: Fall 2014
Special events are planned for all of those who call Union University home,
whether you attended class at the downtown campus or you graduated from
the current campus north of I-40. Bring the entire family for a weekend of
basketball, reunions and exciting events, including the inauguration of our
16th president, Dr. Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver. This is a weekend you will not
want to miss. We cannot wait to see you back home at Union University!

Friday, November 7
- Class of 1965 Reunion Reception and Registration
8:30 A.M. W.D. Powell Theatre
Join members of the Class of 1965 for a light breakfast reception as you
register for the weekend and prepare to be recognized in the
Homecoming Chapel service.
- Homecoming Chapel
10 A.M. G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel
Make plans to be here for the official kickoff of Homecoming Weekend as we
worship together in the annual Homecoming Chapel. We will honor the lives of
those returning to campus to celebrate their 50th Class Reunion and acknowledge
the Alumni Award recipients.
- Homecoming Celebration Luncheon
11:30 A.M. Bowld Student Commons
Enjoy a lunch on campus as we recognize the Class of 1965, the 2014 Alumni
Award winners and the Class of 1964 as they present their class gift to the
university. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 731.661.5050.
Cost: $20 per person.
- Presidential Inauguration of Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver
2 P.M. G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel
Join us as we celebrate the inauguration of the 16th president of Union University,
Dr. Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver. A reception on the Great Lawn will follow the service.
- Engineering Alumni Dinner
6 P.M. Flat Iron Grille
Join the Union University Engineering Department to celebrate the first decade of
engineering graduates. While there will be no charge for this event, reservations
are required. To make your reservation, please call 731.661.5270 or email
- 50-Year Reunion Banquet
6:30 P.M. Jackson Country Club
Gather together with the Class of 1965 and friends to tell stories of days at Union
and to enjoy food and fellowship. Reservations are required and may be made by
calling 731.661.5050. Cost: $40 per person.
Saturday, November 8
- Run for a Wish
8:30 A.M. Miller Tower
Join the ladies of Chi Omega for a fun run 5K! All proceeds will go to benefit the
Make-A-Wish Foundation. Registration fee will be $5 for current college students
and anyone under the age of 18 and $10 for adults. Registration will start at 7:45
and race time is at 8:30. You can register online at uu.edu/homecoming.
- Blast From the Past Breakfast
8 A.M. Bowld Student Commons
Any and all Union Alums who are celebrating 50 years or more from graduation
are welcome to join this celebration. We will enjoy a delicious breakfast and
reminisce about college days at Union. You will also meet members of the
Alumni Relations staff. Reservations are required and may be made by calling
731.661.5050. Cost: $20 per person.
- NCAA Reception and Celebration
11 A.M. E.T. “Rocky” Palmer Activity Center
Join with players and coaches of the past and present as we celebrate the
transition into NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference.
- Picnic with the President
NOON The Great Lawn
Bring your family and enjoy some time of fellowship with alums and
current students on the Great Lawn as we celebrate the inauguration of our
16th president. Meet Dr. Dub and Mrs. Susie Oliver along with some of your
favorite Union University athletes and Buster the Bulldog.

2 P.M. Fred Delay Gymnasium
During halftime, the 2014 Homecoming
Court will be announced and President and
Mrs. Oliver will crown the Union University
- Bulldogs vs Williams Baptist College Eagles
4 P.M. Fred Delay Gymnasium
During halftime, the Presidential Cup will be
awarded to the student organization that
demonstrated outstanding service to the
community. The winner will receive the Cup
and $500, which will be divided between the
organization and the charity of its choice.
- Communication Arts 30th Anniversary Celebration
6 P.M. TV Studio in Jennings Hall
Come celebrate 30 years with COMUnion! All Communication Arts majors
and minors from the past three decades and their families are invited.
