Union University seeks a qualified individual for the position of Academic Secretary (part-time) to support the Biology and Chemistry Departments.
The position is part-time, 20 hours per week. This position serves during the 10-month school year with two summer months off. Scheduling is flexible. However, the work of this position is primarily during the regular work day.

Position Description:
Duties for these positions include the following:
· Greeting and ensuring positive interactions with students, visitors, faculty, and staff. Handle phone calls and redirect as necessary.
· Provide clerical support for the Department Chairs (secondarily for other faculty).This includes making copies, letter writing, tables and charts for end-of-the-year statistics, communication with alumni, and any assistance with materials for the classroom (this includes typing syllabi, tests, schedules, etc.
· Assist in the coordination of and preparation for departmental events.
· Maintain and update inquiries, application data bases, and files on graduate and undergraduate students.
· Create and distribute forms needed for student and faculty evaluations and compile results for appropriate distribution.
· Assist with other duties as assigned by the Department Chairs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. An Associates Degree or higher is preferred. Previous experience as a secretary is also preferred. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; practical knowledge of computers and competent in the use of MS Word and Excel; excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with faculty, students, staff, and visitors; and the ability to follow directions with minimum guidelines and supervision.
