Position Description:
Responsibilities include:
· Develop and teach assigned courses in mechanical engineering and applicable common core courses in the engineering curriculum.
· Design, specify, install and maintain the engineering laboratory.
· Implement Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process in support of overall ABET requirements.
· Assist the department in preparing for ABET visit.
· Participate in programs and initiatives to enhance scholarship and professional development.
· Support the department to function effectively as an integral part of the College of Arts and Sciences and of the life of Union University as a whole.
· Assist with prospective student enrollment and recruiting.
· Assist in building relationship between Union Engineering and the business communities in the region.
· Supervise capstone design and undergraduate research projects.
· Assist in developing a degree-completion program.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field with preference given to individuals with professional and academic expertise in thermal-fluid sciences. Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain licensing within three years of appointment is required. A working knowledge of ABET accreditation policies and processes, as well as a demonstrated capacity to work with business executives, university administration and faculty, community leaders, State Board of Engineering Examiners, ABET officials, and students of all levels, is desired.
