Student E-mail

Very soon after you enroll in your first course at Union, an e-mail address is automatically created based on your name. This is your account name followed by @my.uu.edu. It is considered an official means of university communication. You are responsible for responding to any messages sent to that account, so you should check it regularly. Offices such as the Academic Center (registrar) and Student Financial Planning will use this address to contact you concerning your grades, financial aid, etc. To learn when your accounts and e-mail are created and other related information see the New Student FAQs.

Your e-mail, calendar and Skydrive file storage are provided through Microsoft's Live@Edu services. You will be able to use your Microsoft-based services for life. You may already be familiar with Hotmail, which is very similar to this service. (Note: If you have a separate Live or Hotmail account, you must first log out of that account before accessing your Union account.)

There are at least three ways you can access your Union e-mail account:

• (Effective fall 2011) After a one-time setup in Union's portal (portal.uu.edu) you will be connected to your e-mail, calendar and file storage. Once you log into the portal each time, you will also have direct access to other resources that would each require a separate login otherwise. Clicking the 'unread message' count on your portal home page will direct you to your e-mail and calendar.
• You can go directly to your e-mail, calendar and file storage at mail.my.uu.edu using your Union e-mail address and password to Sign In (not Sign Up).
• If your phone supports Microsoft Exchange e-mail, you can connect it to your Union account at Microsoft. The initial steps are included in New Student FAQs.

Union respects your privacy and will never access your accounts, except in judicial matters or as requested by university administration.
