I Corinthians 1:18-25 "…for the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom…"
Beginning our retreat on April Fool's Day seemed a good opportunity to consider the tradition of the godly fool which appears so prominently in the writings of Lewis, Tolkien, and the other Inklings. We will meditate together on the contrast between the fool for Christ and the fool for vanity.
Our retreat leaders will focus on several of the important "fools" in Inklings literature; including
Come away to the Misty Mountains (locally known as the Smokey Mountains) and the beauty of an Appalachian spring as we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the conversion of C. S. Lewis to faith in Christ. Walk the mountain paths as the Inklings would have done or enjoy the shops, restaurants, and galleries of nearby Black Mountain.
Meetings will take place in the beautiful Chapel of the Prodigal.
Lodging is available off site at the motels and B&Bs in nearby Black Mountain. Acommodations List (.pdf)
