April R. Thompson

April joins us in counseling services this year and she is passionate about working with college-aged students. She holds a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, both from Liberty University. April is a fully licensed and nationally certified counselor and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the American College Counselor Association.

In addition to providing counseling services part-time at Union, April is also in private practice locally.  She has experience utilizing a variety of counseling modalities and embraces a holistic approach to healing that considers the whole person and the interconnectedness of emotional, mental, physical, relational, and spiritual well-being.

Outside of her professional work, April has been married for 31 years and is the proud mother of three sons and two daughters-in-law. She especially enjoys spending time with her family, along with reading and enjoying a good cup of coffee.
